Ski tours on Turkey. Ski ascent of Mt. Ararat (5137 m) and Mt. Süphan (4058 m). 2016 – from 985 EUR€

Mount Ararat (also Mount Masis after the Armenian name Մասիս, Turkish Ağrı Dağı) is a snow-capped, dormant volcanic cone in Turkey. It has two peaks, Greater Ararat (the tallest peak in Turkey with an elevation of 5137 m) and Lesser Ararat (with an elevation of 3896 m). Mount Ararat is located in Eastern Turkey's Eastern Anatolia Region on the borders of Iran, Armenia (formerly U.S.S.R.), and Nakchivan. Mount Ararat’s summit is located some 16 km west of the Iranian and 32 km south of the Armenian border. The Nakhchivan exclave of Azerbaijan is also in close proximity to the mountain. The Ararat plain runs along its northwest to western side.

Mount Ararat in Judeo-Christian tradition is associated with the "Mountains of Ararat" where according to the book of Genesis, Noah's ark came to rest.

The climb is long, but there is an easy route from the south in late summer for climbers who are familiar with the use of axe and crampons. Snow covers the last 400 m year-round. There are several possible campsites on the mountain, and the glacier begins around 4800 m.

Our skiing tours will take you to the amazing peaks of Mount Ararat and Mount Süphan. Two mountains - two different personalities, but reaching either of the peaks is just as rewarding. The breathtaking views and getting a taste of the exceptional local culture just as nature is starting to wake up promise a special experience. The best season for the ski tours on Mt. Ararat is between March and early June.
